Alex joined WhatIs.com in the spring of 2006. Alex writes definitions, sends out the Word of the Day email newsletter and works with interactive and social media. Prior to joining the site, Alex worked as a knowledge broker, Web designer, carpenter, grande mangier and IT consultant, though rarely on the same day.

In his spare time, Alex enjoys reading, fishing, cycling, gardening, cooking and hiking.

Alex graduated from Colby College in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in biology and sociology.
