Tiger

Tiger is the the code name for version 10.4 of the Apple Macintosh OS X ( Operating System 10), which was released to the marketplace April 29, 2005. The original Mac OS X release had the code name Cheetah . Mac OS X 10.1 was called Puma , Mac OS X 10.2 was called Jaguar , and Mac OS X 10.3 was called Panther .

Tiger offers enhancements to previous versions of OS X. Significant among these are a quick desktop search of all files, images, e-mail messages, and other data; two-way audioconferencing and videoconferencing; an automator to streamline repetitive tasks; a spoken English voice interface for the visually impaired; parental controls to filter content viewed on the Web; productivity applications called Dashboard Widgets; and support for RDF Site Summary ( RSS ).
