XORP

XORP (Extensible Open Router Platform) is a project devoted to the creation of a system for open source network routing. The first release was made public in 2004 by the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, California.

XORP is available without cost and has aroused the interest of network researchers, operators, application writers and hardware vendors. XORP is script able and can be used as a production router or a network emulator. Engineers find XORP attractive because it can easily be adapted to specialized applications such as VoIP , e-commerce and online transaction processing ( OLTP ). XORP also holds promise as a platform for the development of new and innovative routing protocols with a minimum of overhead.
