BITNETBITNET is a network of academic sites comparable to but separate from the Internet. BITNET originated the utility known as the list server and Internet users can get access to BITNET list servers (or subscription lists). E-mail can be exchanged between users on BITNET and the Internet. As the Internet grows, BITNET is becoming less important.
