moof monsterThe moof monster is a vague and indefinable source of trouble for users of information technology. The term is used especially by people who frequent Internet Relay Chat ( IRC ) channels. If you're suddenly disconnected from your channel, it can be attributed to the moof monster. You are said to have been "moofed." The term seems reminiscent of the gremlin of the 1940 era. This term is apparently unrelated to the "moof!", the sound of the dogcow in an Apple Macintosh.
