MortimerA Mortimer is a person who knows a lot about computers or the Internet but would rather ridicule those who know less than share some knowledge. The term was coined by members and listeners of NetTalkLive!, a program that is broadcast over radio, television, and the Internet. The term is derived from the name of a certain famous wooden dummy whose last name was the compound of "snooty" and "nerd". Mortimer Snerd himself, creation of Edgar Bergen and colleague of Charlie McCarthy, would never have been considered snooty, a nerd, or (in this context) a Mortimer.
