ESDIESDI (Enhanced Small Device Interface) is a hardware interface for a computer disk drive based on the ST-506 standard, an early industry and later ANSI standard based on the Seagate disk drive. ESDI improved storage capacity and data transfer rates. It was used in IBM's higher-end PS/2 computers. ESDI has generally been supplanted by the Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics ( EIDE ) interface and the Small Computer Systems Interface ( SCSI ).
