The above images are representative of the Mandelbrot set of fractals, easily recognized by the circular shapes. These images were created in two different programs, Fractint (left) and Aros Magic (right).

Fractal Scape for Whatis.com

The image to the left began as a series of fractal images (you can still see the Mandelbrot shape in the clouds in the background) that were processed in a series of graphics programs and manipulated into a final planetary "Fractal Scape".
