stathenry (statH)The stathenry (abbreviated statH) is the unit of inductance in the cgs (centimeter/gram/second) or small-unit metric system . It is equivalent to 8.9876 x 10 11 henrys. The henry (H) is the standard unit of inductance in the International System of Units ( SI ). It is rare to see an inductance as large as 1 H, but a 1-statH inductance is unknown in the real world. To produce an inductance that large, an impossibly long span of wire would have to be coiled into a tiny volume around a ferromagnetic core having a permeability higher than that of any known substance. (It might someday be possible, however, to produce inductances of that magnitude by supercooling.) In practical applications, the microhenry (?H) and the nanohenry (nH) are most often used to quantify inductance. For comparison, 1 ?H = 10 -6 H and 1 nH = 10 -9 H.
