The faraday is a dimensionless unit of electric charge quantity, equal to approximately 6.02 x 10 23 electric charge carriers. This is equivalent to one mole , also known as Avogadro's constant .

In the International System of Units ( SI ), the coulomb (C) is the preferred unit of electric charge quantity. It is equivalent to one ampere-second (1 A · s) and represents approximately 6.24 x 10 18 electric charge carriers. To convert from coulombs to faradays, multiply by 1.04 x 10 -5 . To convert from faradays to coulombs, multiply by 9.65 x 10 4 .

The faraday and the farad are named after Michael Faraday, one of the independent inventors of the electric motor in the early 1800s.
