Definition - What is CULV?

CULV (consumer ultra-low voltage) is a line of Intel processors for ultra-light notebook computers. 

CULV processors are designed to use less power than traditional laptop processors. This has two main benefits for the consumer: the laptop’s battery can last all day and the laptop doesn’t generate as much heat. Because CULV processors don't heat up enough to require the chassis to have a fan or other cooling components, CULV laptops can be made thinner and lighter than more traditional laptops using traditional processors.

According to Intel, pricing and performance for CULV processors are somewhere between the Intel Atom and the Centrino lines.
