The Information Security Breaches Survey is an independent security research effort in the U.K. It is carried out every two years by PriceWaterhouseCoopers to provide a snapshot of the state of security in U.K. business.
Information for the survey is gathered by surveying employees at more than 1,000 businesses that have been chosen to represent a cross-section of UK industry. The survey covers all main areas of security, from the use of antivirus software to the adoption of cloud-based services. It also gathers information about security breaches that companies have suffered over the previous two years -- and the damage they have suffered as a result.
All information gathered by the survey is anonymised, and so the results are generally considered to be reliable and a good indicator of what is actually happening.
