A number of generally recognized authorities and organizations offer guidance about how to cite sources when writing an academic or journalistic paper. Some of these also offer guidance on how to cite online sources, such as Web sites. Organizations offering guidance include the Modern Language Association, the Chicago Manual of Style, and the Associated Press.
