Mechanical design software, which is a subset of CAD (computer-aided design) software, typically offers multiple CAD viewing capabilities and includes modules or add-ons that allow engineers to draw blueprints and validate their designs by using finite element analysis (FEA) to test analyze the models they have created. Some mechanical engineering software vendors provide printing add-ons, which let engineers print designs while maintaining a 1:1 scale on their drawings.
