What is thumbing?

Thumbing is a method of typing on a small keyboard using the thumbs. The method evolved because keyboards on (or sometimes attached to) handheld devices are generally too small for users with full-size hands to type using all the fingers. Thumbing is the typical method used to type messages on a BlackBerry, personal digital assistant (PDA) or a mobile phone.
