Weave

What is Weave?

Weave is a set of browser enhancements and associated services from Mozilla Labs that allow users to store personal information on Mozilla servers. Users can access their information from any computer with a compatible browser installed and selectively share it with others.

Shared data can include anything normally used on a personal computer (PC) such as files, application programs, bookmarks, history, address lists, calendars, cookies and passwords. Special functions include online backup and archiving, tabbed browsing, storage of paperless printouts and multi-user data repositories.

An intelligent scheduler facilitates data synchronization between the browser and the server to optimize performance. Weave uses WebDAV and HTTPS for secure transmission between the user's computer and the Mozilla servers. Data is also encrypted for storage. On the client side, data privacy and security are ensured by encryption, authorization and authentication.
