Shared Cache file

CACHE is a file extension for a shared cache file format used by many programs such as web browsers and image editors to store the most commonly accessed files in order to speed up operation of the program.

Computers include caches at multiple levels of operation, including cache memory and disk cache. Internet content can also be cached by distributing it to multiple servers that are periodically refreshed.

CACHE files are made to be referenced by programs and are not readily viewable by a user.
