Catalog file format for Advanced Disk Catalog

CAT is a file extension for a catalog file format used by Advanced Disk Catalog. CAT stands for CATalog files.

In computing, a catalog is a directory of information about data sets, files, or a database. CAT files are used to index data from various locations, including local disk drives, network drives, and removable media. CAT files are used for keeping track of data within a collection of media.

The CAT file extension is also associated with dBase catalog files and Quicken IntelliCharge categorization files.
