Command file (program)

COM is a file extension for a command file format for an 8-bit CP/M (Control Program for Microcomputers) executable used by Microsoft Disk Operating System (DOS).
COM was created for the Intel 8080 processor. The COM file format was also used for a text list of commands in earlier operating systems in 1970’s minicomputers and mainframes.
