DIZ is a text file format used for describing programs or files in a .ZIP folder. DIZ stands for “Description in Zipfile.” DIZ files are usually named FILE_ID, which means “File Identification.” DIZ files were originally created for use with Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) to help identify information uploaded by users. FILE_ID.DIZ files were intended to give information on the contents of a .ZIP file. DIZ files can be opened by any text editor on Macs and Windows.
