Device Driver (Required to make a device function)

The DRV file extension is associated with device driver files.

A device driver is a program that interacts with a particular device and contains knowledge about the device that programs using the driver need. A device driver converts the operating system's general input/output instructions into messages that the device type can understand. The DRV file contains the information required to do so.

A driver is often packaged as a dynamic link library (DLL) file.
