Windows Explorer folder file
FOLDER is a file extension used to define a Windows Explorer folder. FOLDER extensions are used in the Windows Registry to define a folder and contains the folder characteristics. The contents of the FOLDER file are used as a template when creating new folders from within Windows Explorer.
The FOLDER file extension is also used for Macintosh folder extension files.
