JAVA is a file extension for a source code file format used for Java. A JAVA file may contain a program or be one of a number of source code files to make a program.

The Java programming language was created for the distributed environment of the Internet. Java was designed to have the "look and feel" of  C++ language but to be simpler to use. Java enforces an object-oriented programming model.
