Cached information file used by eMule and eDonkey

MET is a file extension for a cached information file used by eMule and eDonkey. MET files contain information such as the preferences set in the application, hashed file ID's, resource download links, server addresses, file names, and statistics. MET files are used by the eMule and eDonkey software, though not directly viewable. eMule and eDonkey are peer to peer clients used for file-sharing purposes.

The MET file extension is also used for macro editor top overflow files in WordPerfect for Windows Library, document files in OmniPage Pro and metafiles for Presentation Manager.
