Error file for Lotus Notes
RIP files store errors generated by IBM’s internal communication and collaboration client Lotus Notes, which communicates with Lotus Domino running on a server. Because Lotus Notes typically crashes when a RIP file is created, the format name is jokingly said to stand for “Rest in Peace.”
