RSC File Format

Resource file (Generic)

The RSC file extension is a generic file type associated with compiled resource files. An RSC file can contain various things, depending on the program in question. Each RSC file may contain a single resource or multiple resources and might include such things as dialog boxes, icons, menus, strings tables and user-defined binary data, among other things.

A resource file can be embedded directly into an executable or DLL file once it has been compiled into the appropriate format. The product will be a single EXE or DLL containing both code and resources. When the application runs, it can use the resource items in the embedded file.

Programs that use and open RSC resource files include MicroStation (Symbology Resources), Maptitude GISDK and SymbianOS Application.
