I received an e-mail of a scanned document and it had a file extension .smt
Within settings for the android, if one wanted to select storage, the color diagram displaying how your space is being consumed.

In my case, a large portion of bytes used displays red. And the settings defines red as misc.

And when you click on misc., it displays extentions and other areas. Which leads one to ask, what is the extension SMT considering it uses alot of space.

Which is why many of us ended up here, the curious ones. Most people I suppose dont care enough to know or they are afraid to be tackled by technical darts, so they avoid it.
I have found the same thing in my android storage settings. It takes up the most space, but I can't figure out what it is. I don't see any folders of files in my file explorer that have that name, or extension. I'm afraid to delete it, because I don't want something to stop working. What kind of phone do you have? Mine is a Samsung galaxy s4.
My phone kept running out of space and Idon't want to move everything to my sd card. So I, like most others here, wanted to know what some of this tech garbage really is. Garbage or necessity ? Mostly the larger files.
