Shockwave audio file in Macromedia Director (an MP3 file)

The SWA extension is used for Adobe Shockwave files that carry the audio for Adobe Flash animations, which use the SWF file extension. SWA files are a compressed audio format similar to MP3 — in fact, they’re so close that the .swa extension can be changed to .mp3, enabling the file to work with nearly any device that supports the MP3 format.

SWA files are compatible with Adobe Flash Player and Adobe’s Director animation creation software, along with Apple’s QuickTime player.

MIME type: application/x-director
