WKS is a file extension for a spreadsheet file created by Microsoft Works. WKS files contain alphanumeric data sorted in rows and columns. WKS files can be opened by Microsoft Works, and dependent on the version of the WKS file, Microsoft Excel.

Microsoft Works is no longer sold. In its place, Microsoft sells a slim version of Microsoft Office called called Office Starter 2010, targeted more towards home users than the full version.

The WKS file extension is also used for spreadsheet files for Lotus 1-2-3 and Symphony as well as xlisp workspace files.
