An early compressed file format
ZOO is a file extension for an archive file created with Zoo compression. The Zoo compression program and format was developed by Rahul Dhesi in the mid 1980s.
Zoo files can contain an compressed archive of files and folders, as well as previous versions of identical files. Zoo compression is no longer common. In the past, it was commonly used on Unix and OpenVMS computers. ZOO files can be opened by Booz, which has been ported to DOS, Windows, and Mac OS X.
MIME type: application/zoo, application/x-zoo, application/macbooz
