SPS File Format

Spssx source code file (VAX/VMS)

The SPS file extension is used on files created with the statistical analysis software SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), which was first released by SPSS Inc. in 1968. In 2009, SPSS was purchased by IBM.

SPS files used to analyze statistical data are typically developed with the SPSS Syntax Editor and include SPSS commands written in the SPSS syntax.
